Status: draft for closed TestFlight beta testing only. This has not had a legal review and is not the final version — a complete version will be published before Jia is publicly available. It's written to be accurate to how the app works today, not aspirational.

By creating an account or using Jia, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

Jia is a shared organiser app for one household — a calendar, group chat, to-do list, and shopping list, used by the members of a single family unit. It's currently in closed beta testing and not generally available.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By signing up, you confirm you meet this requirement. If you believe an account belongs to someone under 13, you can report it from the sign-in screen without needing an account yourself.

You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for activity that happens through your account. You can view and revoke devices signed into your account, and delete your account, at any time from within the app. Deleting your account removes your memberships, shared calendar events, and to-do assignments; chat messages you sent remain visible to your former family unit with your name removed (see Section 6).

Jia is organised around a single family unit per household. Joining a unit via an invite code gives you access to that unit's full calendar, chat history, to-dos, and shopping list — including everything sent before you joined. There's no way to join a unit without seeing its full chat history. An owner can remove a member from a unit at any time, which immediately revokes that member's access to it.

You retain ownership of the content you add to Jia — calendar events, chat messages, to-do items, shopping list items. By adding it, you give Jia the permission needed to store, sync, and display it to the other members of your family unit, and nothing more. Chat messages are retained for as long as the family unit exists — leaving a unit or deleting your account removes your name from your messages but not the messages themselves, since they're part of the unit's shared history, not your personal data alone.

If you choose to connect an external calendar (Apple, Google, or Outlook), Jia reads event data from it — read-only, we never modify your calendar at the source — to share with your family unit at the level of detail you choose. You can disconnect a calendar at any time, which stops any further reading and removes events it had shared into your units.

You agree not to:

• Use Jia for anything illegal, or to harass, abuse, or harm anyone
• Attempt to access another family unit you haven't been invited to
• Interfere with or attempt to disrupt Jia's operation
• Use Jia to store or share content you don't have the right to share

We may suspend or remove access for accounts that violate these terms.

Jia is free to use, supported by non-personalised advertising. A one-time purchase removes ads — it does not unlock any additional features; free and paid use of Jia are otherwise identical. Jia does not currently show ads; if introduced in a future update, the advertising provider will never receive event titles, message content, to-do or shopping items, member names, or any other content from your family unit.

Jia is provided "as is," especially during this beta period. We don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose. Beta software may have bugs, and features may change before public release.

To the extent permitted by law, Jia and its developer aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.

You can stop using Jia and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for a violation of Section 8, or if required by law.

Since this is a beta-testing draft, these terms may change as Jia's features change. We'll update the "last updated" date above when they do, and material changes will be communicated in the app.

These terms are governed by the laws of Australia.
