This Privacy Policy explains how Wheels: Mileage Tracker ("Wheels," "the App," "we," "us") handles information when you use the App. We built Wheels around a simple principle: your trip data belongs to you, and it stays on your device.
1. Data We Collect and Where It Lives
Wheels captures the information needed to log your trips, including:
- Trip start and end timestamps
- GPS location data and route-following distance during an active trip
- Odometer readings you enter
- Trip descriptions and Business/Personal classification
- Vehicle information you add (name, make/model)
All of this data is stored locally on your device. Wheels does not use cloud storage, does not require an account, and does not transmit your trip data, location history, or vehicle information to us or to any server. We do not operate a backend that receives or stores your personal data. If you delete the App, your data is deleted with it, unless you have exported it yourself or another party of your own choosing.
This does not include the separate, more limited technical data involved in showing advertising or processing the optional in-app purchase described below.
2. No Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your trip data, location data, or any personal information with third parties. We do not have access to your data — it never leaves your device under normal operation of the App, aside from the advertising traffic and in-app purchase processing described below.
The only way your trip data leaves your device is if you choose to export it (for example, as a CSV file) and share it yourself or another party of your own choosing via the iOS share sheet — for instance, sending it to your accountant or tax agent. That sharing is entirely under your control.
3. Location Data
Wheels uses your device's location services to record GPS coordinates and calculate route-following distance while a trip is in progress. Location access is used only:
- While you have an active trip running, to log your route
- To reverse-geocode your start and end addresses for your trip records
Location data is processed and stored locally on your device. You can deny or revoke location permissions at any time in your device's Settings, though this will limit the App's ability to automatically capture distance and location for your trips.
4. Advertising and Tracking
Wheels shows banner advertising through Google AdMob to support the App. Displaying an ad means your device communicates directly with Google's ad-serving infrastructure. This is separate from, and does not include, any of the trip, location, or vehicle data described in Section 1 — that data stays on your device regardless of whether an ad is shown.
- Every ad shown is generic, non-personalized advertising. We do not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework, do not access your device's advertising identifier, and do not personalize ads based on your activity in this App or elsewhere.
- Serving and measuring an ad still involves Google receiving standard technical data — such as general device type, IP address, and app version — independent of any trip or personal data, and covered by Google's own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- If we later introduce personalized advertising, we will only do so after requesting your permission through ATT, and you will always be asked to explicitly opt in first. Personalized advertising will never be enabled without your consent.
- You can review or change your tracking permission for Wheels at any time in your device's Settings under Privacy & Security > Tracking.
5. In-App Purchases
Wheels offers an optional, one-time purchase to remove advertising ("Remove Ads"). This purchase is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store — we never see, collect, or store your payment details (card numbers, billing address, or any other financial information); Apple handles billing directly under its own privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
The only thing Wheels itself records is whether the purchase has been made and your resulting ad-display preference, both stored locally on your device like the rest of your settings. If you use "Restore Purchases," that request goes directly from your device to Apple, not to us.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Since your data is stored only on your device, you are in full control of it:
- You can edit or delete individual trips and vehicles within the App at any time.
- You can delete all App data from within Settings > Data Management.
- Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.
We have no ability to retrieve, restore, or delete your data remotely, because we never receive a copy of it.
7. Children's Privacy
Wheels is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under the age required to hold a driver's license in their jurisdiction.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if we introduce new features such as advertising. We will update the "Last updated" date above when changes are made. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using Wheels: Mileage Tracker ("Wheels," "the App," "we," "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Description of the Service
Wheels is a mobile application that helps you record vehicle trip data for the purpose of tracking mileage — including timestamps, GPS-based route distance, odometer readings, locations, and Business/Personal classification. Wheels lets you export this data (for example, as a CSV file) for your own records or to share with others.
Wheels captures and organizes raw travel data. It does not calculate, estimate, or guarantee any tax deduction, reimbursement amount, or dollar value.
2. Not Tax, Financial, or Legal Advice
Wheels is a data capture and record-keeping tool. It is not a substitute for professional tax, accounting, financial, or legal advice, and nothing in the App or produced by it should be interpreted as such advice.
We strongly recommend using Wheels in conjunction with a registered tax agent, accountant, or other qualified professional who can review your exported data and advise you on how it applies to your specific tax or reimbursement situation, including which trips qualify, what rates apply, and how to translate distance data into a dollar value.
You, and/or your appointed tax agent or accountant, are solely responsible for:
- Determining whether a given trip qualifies as business or deductible travel
- Applying the correct mileage rate, method, or formula to convert distance into a dollar value
- Ensuring compliance with the tax laws and record-keeping requirements applicable to your jurisdiction
- The accuracy and completeness of the data you enter into the App (such as odometer readings, descriptions, and purpose classifications)
3. Accuracy of Data
Wheels relies on your device's GPS and on information you manually enter to produce trip records. While we aim for the App to function reliably, we do not guarantee that GPS distance, timestamps, or any other automatically captured data will be perfectly accurate in all conditions (for example, due to GPS signal loss, device limitations, or manual entry errors). You are responsible for reviewing, editing, and confirming your trip records before relying on them, including before providing them to a tax agent or using them for a tax filing.
4. Your Data
All trip and vehicle data you create in Wheels is stored locally on your device. We do not host, back up, or have access to this data. You are responsible for your own device security, backups, and safekeeping of exported files (such as CSV exports). Loss of data due to device loss, damage, deletion of the App, or failure to export or back up your own data is not our responsibility.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Wheels only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You are responsible for complying with any local laws regarding the use of a mobile device while driving, including only interacting with the App when it is safe and legal to do so.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
Wheels is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any data captured will be complete or accurate.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising out of or related to your use of the App — including but not limited to any tax penalty, audit finding, denied deduction, or reimbursement dispute arising from your use or interpretation of data produced by the App.
8. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, features, and underlying code, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks, branding, or intellectual property beyond what is necessary to use the App as intended.
9. Changes to the App or Terms
We may update, modify, or discontinue features of the App, and may revise these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when changes are made. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
10. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device. We may suspend or discontinue the App or any of its features at our discretion.
11. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Australia, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
